Mile High Harley Night

There was good field of 17 Super Stocks this Saturday. It was supposed to be a combined event with the Pure Stock Division, of which there were 18 cars, so there was no way to try to combine them.

Also on the ticket for this race were the Legends with a car count of 25, and Late Models with 20 cars.

Practice and Qualifying

Between the last race and this one, we worked on the carburetor, moved some weight around, and tuned some suspension. It paid off as we took a couple of tenths off of our lap times, and four tenths off of last race's qualifying time! Unfortunately, everyone else got faster, too.

Jax was 7th quick in practice, and also qualified 7th.

Fast Dash - 10 laps

That qualifying effort put him in the 10-lap Fast Dash where he finished sixth. Kyle Patee spun the 90 car in the front stretch with no incident, putting himself in the 8th position.

Main Event - 25 laps

The top eight drivers did a pill draw for starting position in the main. Jax drew 5th, third row inside. Cox and Kyle Patee were on the outside, Yackey right behind. At the green flag, Yackey gave him a good shot from behind, but all settled out quickly in the first couple of laps.

Kyle Patee and Curtis Heldenbrand got together on lap 15, bringing out the caution. Patee left the track with some body damage two right side flats and his crew got him back on the track before the green came out. Jax was holding his own with the 23 of George Gallegos for the second race in a row. Another caution came out about 5 laps later as the 60 car of Riley Pierce spun in turn 3. The 26 car of Taylor Dragoon got around Jax on the restart, but he was able to get back by him on the inside and come back up behind the 23 for his finish position of 9th. Early leader Curtis Heldenbrand finished 5th and Kyle Patee worked his way back up from last to 4th. Rookie Levi Greenly finished 3rd after leading a few laps, 2014 champ Ron Cox came in 2nd, and Brett Yackey took home his second win of the season.
